What you’ll need
4 Pounds Beef Ribs
Salted or unsalted butter
15oz can Tomato paste
Sugar
Vinegar
Molasses
Honey
Liquid smoke
Seasonings
Salt
Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning
Acajun life Mesquite BBQ Rub
Tools you’ll need
11×17 inch baking pan
Aluminum foil
Pastry Brush
Preparation of ingredients
Step 1- Place ribs into a strainer and rinse with cold water.
Step 2- Pat dry ribs with paper towel. Trim any excessive fat. Place ribs into large bowl.
Step 3- Add 1/2 teaspoon Tony’s Creole seasoning, 1 teaspoon cajunlife mesquite BBQ rub and 1/8 cup liquid smoke onto the first portion of ribs. Rub seasonings and liquid smoke onto ribs. Make sure you repeat this step for the second portion of ribs as well. Let marinate for 1 hour or overnight.
Step 4- Butter bottom of baking pan.
***Preheat oven to 325 degrees***
Step 5- Place ribs onto baking pan. Cover baking pan with Aluminum foil. Polk holes into the aluminum foil. This will let steam escape during the cooking process.
Step 6- Place into a preheated 325-degree oven for 3 hours.
Making the Barbecue sauce
This can be made ahead of time or while ribs are baking. Will last in fridge for 1 month or longer.
Step 7- Add 3/4 Cup Tomato paste, 1/4 Cup Vinegar, 1/4 Cup liquid smoke, 1/4 Cup molasses, 1/4 Cup honey, 1/3 cup sugar and Optional 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir all ingredients together until well combined.
***Preheat fire to medium high heat***
Step 8- Add Barbecue sauce into a medium sized sauce pan and stir. Let come to a simmer first then let simmer for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes turn fire off and let come to room temperature.
Step 9- Remove Ribs out of oven. Remove the Aluminum foil. If you can stick a fork through the ribs then they are done.
***Preheat oven to 400 Degrees***
Step 10- Discard pan juices and add aluminum foil onto the baking pan. Add ribs into pan.
Step 11- Using a pastry brush. Generously brush Barbecue sauce onto the ribs on both sides.
Step 12- Place into broiler part of oven. Let sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes remove ribs out of oven. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Note- Liquid amounts for the making for the Barbecue sauce is less than what it appears to be in the video.
