Makes 15 medium-sized hush puppies

What you’ll need
Yellow cornmeal
All-Purpose flour
Sugar
Baking powder
Baking soda
1 Large egg (Room temp)
Unsalted butter
Buttermilk (Room temp)
Whole milk (Room temp)
Canola oil
Seasonings
Salt
Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning
Cayenne pepper
Crystal Hot Sauce (Extra hot)
1 yellow onion
1 Green Bell pepper
1 Red Bell pepper
3 cloves garlic
Preparation of ingredients
Step 1- Chop 1/2 of a yellow onion, 1 green bell pepper, 1 red bell pepper. and 3 cloves garlic.
Dry ingredients
Step 2- Add 1 1/2 Cup yellow cornmeal, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon Tony Chachere’e creole seasoning, and 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper. Stir all ingredients together.
Wet ingredients
Step 3- Add 1/2 Cup buttermilk (Room temp), 1 tablespoon whole milk (Room temp), 1 Large egg (Room temp), 3 tablespoons melted salted butter and 1/4 cup Crystal Hot sauce (Extra hot) Stir all ingredients together.
Step 4- Add wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir all ingredients together.
Step 5- Add 1/4 Cup chopped yellow onion, 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper, 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper and 1 tablespoon chopped garlic. Stir all ingredients together.
Frying the hush puppies
Preheat fire to medium high heat.
Step 6- Add 48 Fl ounces canola oil into a medium sized pot. Let oil get hot for 13 minutes. If you are using a deep fryer preheat to 350 degrees and let the oil get hot for 13 minutes.
Step 7- Scoop a medium sized amount of hush puppy batter using a ice cream scoop. Drop 4 medium sized spoonful’s into hot oil. Let fry for 2 minutes on each side.
Step 8- Transfer hush puppies on to serving dish lined with napkins. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
