What you’ll need
Vanilla Ice Cream (You can use your favorite brand of Vanilla Ice cream, or you can try my Homemade Vanilla ice cream recipe. Type Vanilla Ice cream in the search engine to go to the recipe page.)
2 Pounds bananas
Unsalted butter
Brown Sugar
Cinnamon
Vanilla extract
Dark Rum (Bacardi)
Preparation of ingredients
Step 1- Peel 2 Bananas. Cut Bananas into half slices or small slices.
Making the Bananas Foster
***Preheat fire to medium high heat***
Step 2- In a large saucepan add 4 tablespoons unsalted butter. Spread the butter around the bottom of your pan. Let the butter melt.
Step 3- Add 1/4 Cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Stir all ingredients together. Let come to a simmer.
Step 4- Add Sliced Bananas. Let sauté on each side for 1 minute.
Special Step Flambe- Add 1/3 Cup dark rum. Tilt the pan at a 30-degree angle with the edge of the pan is near the flames of the burner. The liquid should ignite once it reaches near the edge of the pan. Shake the pan slightly during the flambe. Don’t panic as the flambe will only last about 20 to 25 seconds before going out. Note- The Flambe method is optional if you don’t want to do that step just let mixture simmer for 2 minutes.
Step 5- Once the flambe is out, let mixture simmer for 2 minutes. Turn fire off and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Serve with a few scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and the bananas foster around the sides. Enjoy!
