Butter “Plain” Pound Cake

What you’ll need
All Purpose Flour
Sugar
Salt
Baking powder
Unsalted butter (Room temp)
5 Large eggs (Room temp)
Heavy Whipping cream (Room temp)
Vanilla extract
Butter extract
Cake batter extract (Optional)

Tools you’ll need
Fat Daddio Tube pan 12 to 15 cup capacity
Baker’s Joy Non-stick baking spray
Cooling Rack
Hand or Stand mixer

Preparation of ingredients
Dry ingredients
Step 1- Sift 3 cups All purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1/8 teaspoon salt into a medium sized bowl. Stir and set aside.


Wet ingredients
Step 2- In a separate medium sized bowl, add 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream (Room temp), 1 tablespoon butter extract, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon Cake batter extract (Optional). Stir all ingredients together and set aside.


Preparation of cake batter
Step 3- Add 3 sticks unsalted butter and 3 cups sugar into stand mixer bowl fitted with paddle attachment. Mix on high speed for 6 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl.


Step 4- Start mixer on medium speed and add 5 large eggs (Room temp) one at a time. Mix until combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter. No mixing at a high speed and mix at a low speed until incorporated.


Step 5- Add 1 cup All purpose flour mixture and 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream mixture. Mix on a medium low to low speed until combined. Scrape down sides of bowl.


Step 6- Add 1 cup All purpose flour mixture and 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream mixture. Mix on a medium low to low speed until combined. Scrape down sides of bowl.


Step 7- Add 1 cup All purpose flour mixture and 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream mixture. Mix on a medium low to low speed until combined. Scrape down sides of bowl.


Spray tube pan with Baker’s Joy Non-stick baking spray
Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Step 8- Add Cake batter into tube pan. Spread batter around pan with spatula or spoon as evenly as possible. Shake pan slightly and tap the bottom of the pan with your hands or onto the table.


Step 9- Place into a preheated 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes.


Step 10- Remove cake out of oven and let cool for 3 to 4 hours. Once done, flip cake on to cooling rack and let the cake cool completely.


For best results- Serve cake the very next day. Flavors will settle and increase overnight.
