Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuits from scratch

Makes 8 breakfast sandwiches

What you’ll need

Self rising flour

Salted butter (Room temp)

Buttermilk (Room temp)

1 Pound regular sausage

5 eggs (Optional)

American cheese (Optional)

Strawberry, Grape or apple flavored jam (Optional)

Seasonings

Salt

Black pepper

Tools you’ll need

13×9 inch pan

Biscuit cutter (3 inches diameter)

Parchment paper

Plastic wrap

Pastry blender

Making the biscuits

Step 1- Add 2 1/2 Cups Self-rising flour, 1 teaspoon salt and Add 1 1/2 Sticks Salted butter. Take pastry blender and cut butter into flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 2- Add 1 cup buttermilk room temperature. Stir all ingredients together until mix forms a dough. Dough will slightly stick to your hands. This is normal.

Step 3- Lightly flour surface of your table. Add Biscuit dough on top of the table. Pat biscuit dough down with your hands until it forms a 9×8 inch rectangle. Dough should also have a 3/4 of an inch thickness.

***Preheat oven to 380 degrees***

Step 4- Take biscuit cutter and cut out 8 biscuits. Once you run out of room to cut out any biscuits form the dough into a rectangle and cut out the remaining biscuits. You should have 8 biscuits altogether.

Step 5- Spread butter around the bottom and sides of your baking dish. Add parchment paper inside your baking pan.

Step 6- Place biscuits into a preheated 380-degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. After 15 to 20 minutes remove your biscuits out of the oven. Set aside to cool.

Preparing and cooking your sausage

Step 7- Line plastic wrap on top of your table. If the plastic wrap does work, you can use anything that is flat.

Step 8- Add the entire 1 pound of sausage on top of your table. Press down slightly with your hands until you form a 10 x 8-inch rectangle.

Step 9- Cut out 8 pieces of sausage using the biscuit cutter. Once done place in fridge or freezer for 10 minutes to allow the sausage to firm up.

***Preheat fire to medium high heat***

Step 10- Add Sausage patties into pan. Let fry for 2 minutes. Once 2 minutes is up flip sausage onto opposite side and let fry for 2 minutes.

Step 11- Remove sausage from pan and place on to a serving dish lined with napkins. Set aside.

Preparing and cooking your eggs

If you want a thicker piece of egg on your breakfast sandwich proceed to step 12A

Step 12- Add 5 large eggs at room temperature, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Stir all ingredients together.

***Preheat fire to medium low heat***

Step 13- Add 1 teaspoon of salted butter into a large saucepan. Spread butter around the bottom of your pan. Let butter melt.

Step 14- Add egg and cover pan with lid. Let cook for 8 to 10 minutes on medium low heat. Once done remove egg out of pan and place onto a flat surface such as a chopping board or a large plate.

Step 15- Cut out 8 pieces of egg using your biscuit cutter. If you happen to run out of space for any reason you can make an additional batch of eggs if you like.

Step 12A- Add 10 large eggs at room temperature, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Stir all ingredients together.

***Preheat fire to medium low heat***

Step 13A- Add 2 teaspoons of salted butter into a large saucepan. Spread butter around the bottom of your pan. Let butter melt.

Step 14A- Add egg and cover pan with lid. Let cook for 12 to 15 minutes on medium low heat. Once done remove egg out of pan and place onto a flat surface such as a chopping board or a large plate.

Step 15A- Cut out 8 pieces of egg using your biscuit cutter. If you happen to run out of space for any reason you can make an additional batch of eggs if you like.

Preparing your breakfast sandwiches

Step 16- Take each biscuit and cut it in half. At this point IF you are making a regular sausage biscuit WITHOUT the egg and cheese you can add your Strawberry, grape or apple jam if you like then proceed to the next step.

Step 17- Add sausage, egg and cheese on top the bottom portion of each biscuit. Add the top portion of your biscuit on top of the cheese. If you’re making a regular sausage biscuit once you add your strawberry, grape or apple jam place top portion of your biscuit on top and serve hot.
