Oven Baked Honey Barbecue Chicken recipe

Makes 8 pieces of chicken

What you’ll need
4 to 5 Pounds Chicken (4 legs and 4 thighs)
Unsalted butter
16oz can of Tomato Paste
Vinegar
Molasses
Honey
Hickory smoke liquid
Sugar

Seasonings
Salt
Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning
Chef Paul’s Poultry magic
A cajun life Mesquite BBQ Rub

Tools you’ll need
13×9 inch metal or glass pan

Preparation of ingredients
Step 1- Rinse Chicken with cold water. Transfer on to clean surface and pat all the chicken dry with napkins.

Step 2- Trim off any excessive fat with a sharp knife. Transfer chicken to a large bowl to be seasoned.

Step 3- Add 1 Teaspoon Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning, 1 Teaspoon of Chef Paul’s Poultry magic, 1 Teaspoon of Acajunlife Mesquite BBQ rub and 1/4 Cup of hickory smoke liquid. Rub seasonings and hickory smoked marinade. Place in fridge and let marinate for 1 hour or overnight.

***Preheat oven to 350 degrees***
Step 4- Spread butter along the bottom of your baking pan. Add chicken into baking pan. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning.

Step 5- Place chicken into a preheated 350-degree oven. Bake for 40 minutes.

Step 6- After 40 minutes pull out the bottom rack to your oven and brush the pan juices on to the chicken. Place chicken back into the oven and bake for 40 minutes.

Step 7- Remove chicken out of the oven. Drain the pan juices.

Making the Barbecue sauce
Step 8- In a medium sized bowl Add 1 1/2 Cups Tomato paste, 1/2 Cup Vinegar, 1/4 Cup Molasses, 1/2 Cup liquid smoke, 1/3 Cup honey, 1/3 Cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt (Optional) Stir all ingredients together.

***Preheat fire to medium high heat***
Step 9- Add Barbecue sauce into a medium sized pot. Let come to simmer first then let it simmer for 1 minute. After 1 minute turn your fire off.

***Preheat oven to 450 degrees***
Step 10-Generously add barbecue sauce onto both sides of chicken. Place into the broiler part of your oven. Let sit for 5 minutes. Remove out of broiler part of oven. Let cool for 5 minutes.
Serve hot and enjoy
